Winter tree ID workshop at Sugar Grove Nature Center

[January 30, 2013]  McLEAN -- Trees Forever, University of Illinois Extension, McLean County Soil & Water Conservation District, and Sugar Grove Nature Center are teaming up to host a "Winter Tree Identification Workshop" on Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants will receive in-depth training and practice identifying trees by their bark and twigs. The class will begin indoors with learning basic plant morphology, characteristics and terminology, and studying twig specimens. Class will then move outdoors to practice identifying trees by putting the new skills to work.

This program is sponsored by the McLean County Soil & Water Conservation District.

Continuing education units and CPDU's are available.

The workshop fee is $20 for nature center members and $25 for nonmembers. The fee includes lunch, snacks, Winter Tree ID Guide and other resources. Registration and prepayment are required.
