Friday at lunchtime the place to be was State Bank of Lincoln, at their west-end branch on Woodlawn Road.

Each year the bank offers a free cookout lunch for its customers and the community. State Bank staff man the grill, serve up hot dogs and chips, and make sno-cones for anyone and everyone who wants to drop in.

In years past, the day has been ridiculously hot, and more than anything it was the sno-cones that customers were after. This year, however, it was much milder, and folks enjoyed their dogs while seated under a tent on the lawn. Many stayed to enjoy some time visiting with State Bank staff and friends they happened to see.
