[July 06, 2013]  SPRINGFIELD -- This is Friday's report of the grain prices and trends, prepared by the USDA and the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Illinois country grain prices were mixed on Friday afternoon.

Technical trading at the Board of Trade helped corn and soybean futures to close higher.

In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids were mixed at 6.51-6.63.

Soybean bids were also mixed at 15.55-15.68.

In Central Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids were mostly
3 to 6 cents lower at 6.57-6.84.

Soybean bids were mostly 4 to 9 cents lower at 15.72-15.86.

In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were mixed at 6.44-6.67.

Soybean bids were mixed at 15.75-16.02. Wheat bids were mostly 5 cents lower at
6.32-6.45.

Illinois grains ended mixed this week at the Board of Trade, with soybeans sharply higher and corn sharply lower, with wheat futures slightly lower.

Soybean values continue to be supported by strong soybean meal values and cash
basis levels.

Wheat did finish lower due to harvest pressure and technical selling, but received a boost Wednesday when the USDA announced the sale of 360,000 tonnes of US wheat to China.

Corn futures were still reacting and
adjusting to last Friday's USDA's reports.

Crop conditions did improve last

week for corn and did weaken prices.

This week's Illinois Weather and Crops report, released by the Illinois Field office of the National Ag Statistics Service, showed another increase in crop condition ratings for both corn and soybeans.

As of June 30th, Illinois farmers had reached 97% complete, compared to 96% last week and 96% for the five year average.

Rain did its part in delaying wheat harvest, but farmers did make good progress.

Wheat harvest had reached 45% complete, compared to 12% last week and 64% for the five year average.

The condition of the Illinois corn and soybean
crops went up last week.

There was 69% rated good to excellent, with 24% fair and 7% rated very poor to poor.

The state's soybean crop placed 72% in the good to excellent category, with 23% fair and 5% in the very poor to poor range.

The trading in the cash grain market was slow to moderate this week.

This week both processors and river terminals were changing cash basis months.

Some made the switch and others did not making things a little more confusing.

The addition of wheat harvest added to the week's activity. For the most part, cash
basis levels weakened this week.

The week also included both processors and
river terminals moving from the July (N) to the August (Q) and the September (U).
