Wednesday morning fire damages home on North Sherman

[July 11, 2013]  At 8 a.m. Wednesday, the Lincoln Fire Department was paged for a possible lightning strike. Immediately after the first unit left the station, a second page came in for a structure fire at 820 N. Sherman with the possibility of a person inside.

Upon the arrival of the fire units, the occupant was outside and fire was coming out of the front porch windows and door. The fire department entry team quickly knocked down the fire.

The fire did do damage to a vehicle that was sitting in the driveway. There was also some heat damage to the house at 816 N. Sherman. The occupant of the house at 820 N. Sherman lost her 4-year-old cat in the fire.

There were no reported injuries.

The damage estimate is approximately $50,000.
