Ruth M. Bierman, 88, of Lincoln, passed away at 9:50 PM on July 13, 2013 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2 PM on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

Ruth was born July 18, 1924 in Lincoln, IL., the daughter of Walter F. and Johanna (Barthel) Georgi. She married Lawrence J. Bierman. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1984.

To that union were born two daughters: Cindy Laughery of Lincoln, IL., and Nancy Howard of Normal, IL. She is also survived by her granddaughter Shannon Laughery and her fiance Nathan Murphy of Lincoln, IL. as well as sisters: Elizabeth Geeraerts of Florida, Joan Graue of Lincoln, IL., and Lois Weissburg of Rochester, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, and her brother Walter Georgi.

Ruth was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and was a member of their Ladies Aid. She loved to sew, read, collect dolls, and work puzzles. She was a giver and a friend to all. She had a deep love for her daughters, her granddaughter, and her granddogs Maggie, Peaches, and Kami.

Memorial donations may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or to St. Clara's Manor and will be accepted at the funeral home.
