WLB baseball sets tryout dates

[July 29, 2013]  West Lincoln-Broadwell has set tryout dates for the upcoming junior high baseball season. The tryouts are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 5-7, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., at WLB's Miller Field.

Players are asked to bring an updated physical to the field on Aug. 5 along with proof of insurance. A ball glove and a hat will be required as well. Coaches would prefer that players wear some variation of baseball pants or sweatpants. No jeans or shorts are allowed for tryouts. Baseball cleats are helpful, but are not necessary. IESA rules state that no metal spikes are allowed.

For those thinking about purchasing a new baseball bat, please make sure the bat is made to the IESA regulations. If you have any questions on which bats are legal, please call coach Jeff Nelson, 217-671-1825, or check the IESA website, www.iesa.org.
