[May 31, 2013]  There will be a dedication for the sculpture "Constellation," by Jason Hoffman, on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in conjunction with the 100th anniversary event of the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce. The sculpture is being erected at the corner of Sangamon and Broadway in downtown Lincoln, near the Amtrak station and across from the Blue Dog Inn.

The sculpture draws inspiration from constellation imagery. Hoffman sees potential in these images being three-dimensional and spread over vast distances, not just as two-dimensional forms. To illustrate this idea, he created a 22-foot-tall welded metal sculpture.

This is the first contemporary public sculpture for the city of Lincoln and hopefully the first of many more public art pieces in Lincoln.
