Tuesday evening a huge crowd gathered on Pulaski Street on the south side of the Logan County Courthouse. They were there to help the Lincoln/Logan Chamber of Commerce celebrate its 100th anniversary.

The celebration has been in the making for quite some time, and Andi Hake, executive director of the chamber, was elated at the turnout.

As the crowd prepared for a special ribbon-cut and balloon launch, special speakers representing the city and county were called on to say a few words. Included in the lineup were Lincoln Mayor Keith Snyder; Brian Bergen, executive director of the Lincoln & Logan County Development Partnership; Don Peasley, presiding chamber president; and Logan County Board member Jan Schumacher.

The chamber also handed out a commemorative book that represented a capsule of the history of the chamber. Hake told the group that several businesses had contributed financially to the publication to the extent there was enough money left over to hire the live music for the evening.

She also reminded folks that the Tuesday night event was just part one of the celebration, as the chamber will continue honoring its century mark at the annual Chamber Golf Outing on Friday.
