[June 15, 2013]  A contingent of the Model T Ford Club of America arrived in Lincoln for the weekend as they were touring central Illinois sites. Three chapters of the Model T Club from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Missouri, a total of 20 cars, made their way to the Logan County Airport to visit the Heritage in Flight Museum.

The owners enjoy the camaraderie of other enthusiasts of the first automobile produced on an assembly line, the brainchild of Henry Ford. The chapters get together once a year in June for a tour weekend.

One car of special note belongs to Dennis and Karen Dakan from Maryville, Mo. Their 1913 Model T has been in the family since it was new, having been purchased by Dennis' grandfather. Dennis restored it to like-new condition.

A lot of good-natured ribbing was directed at David and Charlotte Corman of Mount Zion. They arrived in a cherry red 1932 Model A pickup. The Model A was the successor to the Model T, so the Cormans were accused of bringing a modern car to the rally.

The group is touring central Illinois and will be driving to New Salem State Park on Saturday.
