All this spring some interesting activities have been going on around the Logan County Courthouse. A few weeks ago, LDN shared pictures of a special concrete delivery system that was being used to replace some of the sidewalks around the courthouse.

On June 8, during the Main Street Lincoln 5K, LDN spied a couple of fellows working hard to clear out the shrubs that lined the official smoking area and patio at the courthouse. They said the shrubs were getting to be in pretty bad shape. In addition to no longer looking good, they were also blocking the view of the space and some very nice flower beds.

On Monday even more was going on, as crews from C N S Forestry & Landscaping of Lincoln prepared for and planted a total of 22 trees around the courthouse lawn.

On June 8 crews load up the old, sickly shrubs from around the courthouse patio area.

In the foreground one can see where old trees once stood and have been taken out.

The north side of the courthouse looks bare without the shrubs.

Monday afternoon, a large truckload of very nice-sized trees is parked at the courthouse.

This small but obviously mighty piece of equipment is used to dig the hole for the tree root ball.

The tines of this special tool dig into the soil as though it were butter.

The machine makes the perfect hole for the new plantings

The sod from the digging is placed over the bare spots where the old trees were.
