New CrossFit competition coming to Illinois State Fair

1st 'Battle for the Hill' Aug. 10

[June 29, 2013]  SPRINGFIELD -- CrossFit fanatics are invited to put together a team and get ready to compete at the Illinois State Fair.

The first "Battle for the Hill," a team-oriented CrossFit competition hosted by Capital City CrossFit of Springfield and ML CrossFit of Decatur, will take place Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. in Happy Hollow.

"CrossFit is an extremely popular sport in many Illinois cities," said Amy Bliefnick, state fair manager. "We are thrilled to promote physical fitness through this team competition."

The event will have six divisions to ensure that everyone has the chance to compete. The divisions are:

  • Rx'd males -- three males per team

  • Rx'd females -- three females per team

  • Scaled males -- three males per team

  • Scaled females -- three females per team

  • Masters men -- two males age 45-plus per team

  • Masters ladies -- two females age 45-plus per team

Each team that enters the competition is guaranteed two workouts and a T-shirt. The top teams from the male and female Rx'd divisions will compete in a third workout for "Hill Supremacy."

Registration costs $40 per person for those entering before July 14. After July 14, the registration fee will increase to $50 per person. In order to register, teams must select a name.
