[March 04, 2013]  LINCOLN -- Samuel L. VanGeison, 26, of Lincoln, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at 5:43 p.m. at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

Lincoln- Samuel L. VanGeison, 26, of Lincoln passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 5:43 p.m. at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

A Memorial Service for Mr. VanGeison will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the Earl C. Hargrove Chapel on the campus of Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Earl C. Hargrove Chapel in Lincoln. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.

Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, Illinois.

Samuel Levi VanGeison was born on November 5, 1986 in Taylorville, the son of Roger Dale and Mary Callan VanGeison. He married Savanah Jacobs on November 10, 2012 in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother: Mary VanGeison of Stonington; his father: Roger D. VanGeison of Taylorville; one brother: Jacob (Kerry) VanGeison of New Berlin; one sister: Molly (Joshua Westover) VanGeison of Stonington; his grandmothers: Doris Nation of Taylorville and Jean Callan of Stonington; two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by one grandmother and his grandfathers.

Funeral Director

Sam graduated from the Taylorville High School in 2005. He later graduated from Lincolnland Community College and was currently attending Lincoln Christian University.

He was a member of the Jefferson Street Christian Church. He was a former member of the Old Stonington 4- H Club. He also enjoyed playing tennis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Samuel L. VanGeison Benefit Fund in care of US Bank in Taylorville.
