[March 07, 2013]  LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Delta is adding flights in Los Angeles, continuing a slow-but-steady buildup in one of the world's biggest markets for air travel.

It's also adding bigger planes for some flights to John F. Kennedy airport in New York, with a higher-end seat in first class.

The eight new destinations include Seattle, Spokane, Wash., San Jose, and Anchorage. It's also adding Nashville -- a key destination for people in the music business.

Delta has been adding partnerships with other airlines that bring passengers to Los Angeles, including Virgin Australia and Alaska Airlines. Those passengers can then transfer to Delta flights to other parts of the U.S.

Delta Air Lines Inc. has about 12 percent of the departures from Los Angeles, putting it in third place there, behind United and American.
