[March 08, 2013]  Chester-East Lincoln student Samuel Houpt will represent his school this weekend at the Mathcounts state competition in Lisle.

Samuel is one of six students who represented CEL in the regional competition at Millikin University in February. He made the cut as an individual competitor by having the highest score after the winning team earned their berth at state.

CEL teacher Jenelle Scott, sponsor of the Mathcounts group, said she was very proud of him for his achievement and of the whole group for their efforts at Millikin.

In addition, she said she wanted to send out a special thank-you to Prairie Engineers of Illinois. Prairie Engineers paid the entry fee for the kids and bought all of them Mathcounts team T-shirts to wear during their competition.
