Easter Seals to host workshop

[March 14, 2013]  PEORIA -- Easter Seals is hosting a one-day "Executive Function Workshop" next week with presenter Debra Dietrich, M.S., a nationally certified school psychologist.

Participants will learn how to assess a child's executive function processes and develop effective interventions to help children gain more independence and exert greater control over their time, activities and behavior.

The workshop will be on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Easter Seals, 507 E. Armstrong Ave., Peoria.

Ms. Dietrich is a nationally certified school psychologist with expertise in autism, neuropsychology and neurobehavioral consultation. She works with children, educators, parents and medical personnel to diagnose disabilities and recommend learning and behavioral strategies to increase academic and behavioral performance.

She has over 40 years of experience in assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of staff training and development programs. She is currently the school psychologist for the Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Clinic and conducts educational and behavioral evaluations for Easter Seals. She is also a Response to Intervention coordinator for Woodstock Public Schools.

The training is approved for 5.5 contact hours through the Illinois State Board of Education, and Illinois Early Intervention credit is pending.
