William 'Bernard' Deppe

[March 19, 2013]  MOUNT PULASKI -- William "Bernard" Deppe, 92, of Mount Pulaski, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at 5 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mt. Pulaski- William "Bernard" Deppe, 92, of Mt. Pulaski died at 5:00 P.M. on Monday March 18, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Bernard was born on July 24, 1920, son of William Henry and Mable Ella Hinners Deppe in Meredosia, IL. He was united in marriage to Nellie Johnson on December 2, 1944 in Mississippi City, MS. She survives in Mt. Pulaski. Other survivors include his children: Sylvia Buker of Mobile, AL; James K. (Carolyn) Deppe of Virginia, IL; Clint (Diane) Deppe of Mt. Pulaski, IL; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons, and son-in-law Danny.

Funeral Director

Bernard retired from farming and he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Illini basketball. He also loved to read and he traveled around the world. Bernard served his country in the US Army during WW II.

Graveside services for Bernard will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Ashland City Cemetery with Mark Weber officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Mt. Pulaski Legion Post #447. A visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pulaski American Legion Post #447.
