Lady Eagles take 8th at state

Williams chosen for all-tournament team

[March 20, 2013]  The Zion Lutheran School Lady Eagles basketball team won eighth place in the Lutheran Sports Association state tournament in Chicago.

The Lady Eagles defeated Lutheran Unity West of Chicago in their first game by the score of 41-33. In game two, ZLS lost 20-13 to Bethel Lutheran of Morton. In the third round, Zion Lutheran lost to Trinity of Roselle by one point, 16-15. Trinity Lutheran of Roselle defeated the Lady Eagles 20-17 in the seventh-place game.

Participating in the state tournament for the Eagles were Hailie Williams, Danielle Burgrabe, Brooklyn Hermes, Anna Sielaff, Madelyn Koehler, Lane Prather, Lauren Canady, Gabbie Cox, Tori Tripplett, Olga Harris and Katie Hunsley. The Lady Eagles were coached by Todd Koehler and Bob Cox.

Hailie Williams (pictured at top left) was chosen for the all-tournament team. She scored 41 points in the tournament, with an average of 10.25 points per game.

The Zion Lutheran Lady Eagles finished their season with a 27-6 record.
