Klemm introduced the guest speaker,  Jean Payne.

Payne spoke about the watchful eye of the government on the agricultural industry.

She shared accounts of financial difficulties the institute suffered under the Blagojevich administration and how she and her board worked to separate their money from the state.
Also speaking was Dan Schaefer of the Illinois Council of Best Management Practices.

Hake offers a few closing words before the morning ended. This year there were over 75 sponsors of the Ag Scholarship program. Hake said this was the best year thus far for raising money for the program, thus enabling the committee to award 14 scholarships, the most ever.

Sponsors were all given metal art handmade by Don Bode of Lincoln.

Guests make one more run past the display tables as they exit the building.
