Local students get hands-on look at agriculture

Jerry Brown and Gary Atteberry talking about the various products that can be made from corn and soybeans.


The students were given the chance to make biodegradable plastic out of
corn products.

 

This was a big hit with the students, especially after they heard they could take the plastic home.
 

Students at the hog station were treated to filling "feed bags" with candies
representing corn, vitamins, minerals and protein required to feed and grow healthy hogs.

Vicki Huelskoetter explained how pigs grow and had a piglet for the students to pet. The fourth-graders were also treated to pork sausages.
