Jordyn Steiner (1-1) took the loss in the first game, allowing seven
hits, six walks and getting six strikeouts. Jessica Dorgan led off
the second inning with a triple down the right-field line. Katie
Jimison got Dorgan in on a suicide bunt to score the first run for
the Lynx. Then in the fourth inning, Gretchen Stenger led off with a
double bouncing off the center-field fence. She scored on a
Heartland error following a ground ball hit by Ellie Riggs. The Lady
Lynx tailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, and
Heartland went on to score four runs in the inning. Sarah Garrison
also contributed a hit in the first game. The final score was Lynx
2, Heartland 7.
Kylee West took the loss for the second game (0-1). She allowed
three runs on five hits, strikeout and no walks in two innings of
play. Kelsey Prater (0-2) pitched in relief for the remaining two
innings, contributing three strikeouts and no walks.
Darrian Chrzanoski had the only hit of the game, earning a
stand-up double. The final score of the nightcap was Lincoln 0,
Heartland 8.

"It was great to be on the field again, after a 14-day
stretch with no games," said LC coach Crystal Wurth. "We came
out and played well the first game. These girls are talented and
we can hit the heck out of the ball, but we need to find
consistency in the circle and tighten up defense."
Lincoln's overall record is now 3-7 and 0-2 in the conference.
The Lincoln College softball team travels to Lincoln Land
Community College in Springfield for Saturday games at 1 p.m. and 3
p.m. The Lynx will host Spoon River College on Sunday at 1 p.m. and
3 p.m.
