Logan County Safety Complex Blue Room
CALL TO ORDER:
The Logan County Joint Solid Waste Agency met on Wednesday,
February 20, 2013 in the Blue Room of the Logan County Safety
Complex. Chairman Jim 5truebing called the meeting to order at 7:00
PM and the following members were present: David Wilmert Lincoln,
Kenneth Johnson - Middletown, Paul Lee - Elkhart, John Utterback -
Mt. Pulaskî, Ivan Rademaker - Emden, Doris Last - Hartsburg and
Agency Coordinator, Michele Rohlfs; a quorum was present. Mandy
Cordray was present and was introduced as the new Alternate for
Hartsburg.
JANUARY
MINUTES: The January 2013 minutes were presented for approval.
Mr. John Utterback made a motion to accept the January minutes; Mr.
David Wilmert seconded. All present approved.
PAYMENT 0F
BILLS: The February 2013 bills were presented for payment. Mr.
Ivan Rademaker made a motion to pay the February bills and Mr. Paul
Lee seconded. All present approved. Ms. Rohlfs then asked the board
for permission to apply for a fuel card at Thornton's. Fleet-Cor
Technologies has been charging the Agency $10/month for paper
billing. Ms. Rohlfs spoke with a Thornton's Fleet Service
representative and they do not charge for billing. Mr. Ivan
Rademaker made a motion to allow Ms. Rohlfs to apply for a
Thornton's FIeetWorks card; Mr. John Utterback seconded. All present
approved.
CITIZEN
REMARKS: Two guests were present for the meeting. Keli Cottrell,
Castle Manor and Vanessa Komnick, Blades attended as an assignment
for the Leadership Academy sponsored though the Lincoln/Logan
Chamber of Commerce.
OLD BUSINESS
ELECTRONICS
RECYCLING/HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Electronics Recycling continues
to be held the second Saturday of the month, in partnership with
Habitat for Humanity. The collections are held from 9 AM to noon at
the Habitat warehouse on Woodlawn Road. Volunteers are always
welcome.

LOGAN COUNTY
COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR RECYCLING/MARCH 23RD: The
agency will again be offering Glass Recycling and Confidential
On-Site Paper Shredding (COPS) and Hard Drive Destruction as part of
the Logan County Community Health Fair. The Health Fair will be held
March 23rd at the Lincoln Park District’s Recreational Center; glass
recycling and paper shredding activities will be located in the
front parking lot of Lincoln Community High School. The State Bank
of Lincoln continues to underwrite the cost of the paper
shredding/hard drive destruction program which is greatly
appreciated. This year, the Agency will be utilizing students from
either Lincoln College or Heartland College as volunteers for the
March glass collection.
Ms. Cordray
reports that if asked Precision Products would donate gloves; they
had donated some to her for roadway clean-up in the past.
2013 GLASS
RECYCLING: Glass recycling will resume in May and run through
October. Ms. Rohlfs has confirmed the participation of Verallia-St.
Gobain and the Lincoln Woman's Club is meeting tonight to discuss if
they will continue to co-sponsor the collections. Ms. Rohlfs reports
that Cathy Huerd, longtime glass recycling volunteer has also been
in discussions with the LCHS National Honor Society to provide
volunteers for glass collections.
REVENUE IDEAS:
Chairman Struebing reports that a letter has been drafted
seeking donations to replace bins, but nothing has been finalized
yet. Ms. Rohlfs said that she would bring the copies next month.
