 Carlos Quentin homered and drove in three runs and the San Diego Padres battered Edwin Jackson in a 13-7 win over the Cubs on Tuesday night.
Edinson Volquez (2-3) beat the Cubs for the fifth time in his career, working 5 2-3 innings and allowing four runs. He is 5-0 in seven career starts against them, including 3-0 at Wrigley Field.
Jackson (0-4) is still seeking his first win since signing a four-year, $52 million contract in the offseason. He pitched 4 2-3 innings, giving up 11 hits and eight runs, and was booed off the field when he was removed by Cubs manager Dale Sveum.
"It definitely wasn't the best game. I think overall it just been a pretty disappointing month from my standpoint, to myself, to my teammates, to the organizations and the fans, but it is test of character," Jackson said.
"It's just one of those times where you can crumble or fold or you can fight and bounce back. I definitely have not been one to fold," he said.
Jackson tried to ignore the boos from the Cubs fans when he was pulled in the fifth inning.
"It's not the first time I heard it, but it is a thing you don't really pay attention," Jackson said. "I guess it affects people in different ways. But it's the same crowd. If you pitch better they will cheer."
He added: "I would've probably booed myself, as well."
Quentin also doubled twice. He is 34 for 101 (.337) with nine homers against the Cubs in his career.
"I think we were aggressive early. Jackson's got good stuff and I think our guys were ready to hit right from pitch one," Padres manager Bud Black said.
San Diego, which had a four-game winning streak snapped Monday, has won five of its last six games. The Padres' run total -- the most they've ever scored at Wrigley -- and their 17 hits were both season highs.

Yonder Alonso and Nick Hundley both had three hits and a home run for San Diego.
The Padres broke the game open with five runs in the fifth, all charged to Jackson, to take an 8-0 lead. Alonso's two-run homer gave the Padres a 7-0 lead while Chase Headley and Quentin had RBI doubles in the inning.
Volquez's sharp single to center capped San Diego's scoring in the inning.
The Cubs' streak of 25 games decided by four runs or fewer to start the season was snapped. The 25 games was a team record and second all-time in the majors behind only the 1914 Tigers (33 games).
Chicago tried to mount a comeback in the fifth. Valbuena and Starlin Castro each hit two-run homers.
David DeJesus' home run in the seventh that cut the Padres' lead to 10-5 was originally called a double, but was overturned after a video review.
Cody Ransom homered in the ninth for the Cubs, giving him home runs in consecutive games against his former team.
Anthony Rizzo doubled twice and singled for Chicago.
NOTES: Wednesday's pitching matchup is San Diego's Andrew Cashner (1-1, 3.26 ERA) against Scott Feldman (1-3, 2.92). Cashner was a first-round pick by the Cubs in 2008 and was traded to San Diego for Rizzo in January 2012. . Sveum said he's got a closer but he "doesn't know who it's going to be every night." ... Cubs reliever Kyuji Fujikawa is scheduled to have a bullpen session Thursday. If that goes well, he will begin a rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Iowa. Fujikawa has been on the disabled list since April 13 with a strained right forearm.
