"The first year we had the plant sale," said Mary Moore, "we had it here at the Extension office, and we made $300! We were so excited!"

That was 12 years ago. The sale literally "blossomed" into something so large that it had to be moved to the Logan County Fairgrounds.

This week the Master Gardeners were busy getting ready for the sale May 18. The group has several plant beds around the Logan County Extension office. Plants were taken up out of the ground and put into pots in preparation for the sale. David Schroeder of the Master Gardeners would eventually load up many of the plants to take to his home, where he has a watering system that helped them get established in the pots, as well as grow hardier before the sale.

The Master Gardener plant sale is a very popular event, with many shoppers standing outside anxiously waiting when the door opens. The plants on sale will include dozens of varieties of perennial ornamentals as well as special items such as rhubarb and a wide variety of herbs and other vegetable plants.

If you've never made it to the sale, be sure to mark your calendar for May 18 and get there early so as not to miss your chance at some fabulous plants.
