 Dick Wamsley, senior minister at Taylorville Christian Church, will
be the featured guest speaker. In celebrating LCU's 69th year of
providing Christian higher education, Wamsley's message is entitled
"The Best Is Yet to Be."Wamsley earned his Bachelor of Arts and
Master of Divinity degrees at Lincoln Christian University and holds
a Master of Science from Eastern Illinois University. Since 1990, he
has served in a number of Illinois churches and on various boards of
directors, including the LCU board of trustees as chairman from 1997
to 1999 and the LCU Alumni Association as president in 1992. Wamsley
also served for some time at Nebraska Christian College, Papillion,
Neb, as professor, dean of students and president.
The LCU Founders' Day celebration coincides with the weekly
undergraduate chapel service and is open to the public.
The institution was founded as Lincoln Bible Institute on May 4,
1944, as a place to train preachers, Christian teachers and other
Christian workers.
Today, LCU has grown to three schools: the School of
Undergraduate Studies, Lincoln Christian Seminary, and Hargrove
School of Adult & Graduate Studies. LCU also offers classes at
extension sites in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as in Peoria and
Normal. Many degree programs can be completed completely or
partially online.

 Degree opportunities include various associate, bachelor's and
master's degrees, and a doctorate. Areas of study include vocational
church ministry, business, psychology, counseling, intercultural
studies and others.
In 1961, LBI changed its name to Lincoln Christian College, which
was changed again in 1984 to Lincoln Christian College and Seminary.
In conjunction with the 65th anniversary in 2009, the name became
Lincoln Christian University.
LCU is affiliated with Independent Christian Churches and
Churches of Christ (Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement).
Today, in keeping with the founders' vision, LCU prepares and
equips more than 1,000 students to live their mission. LCU has seen
more than 16,000 students pass through its doors, and its alumni
have gone on to serve the Lord in all 50 U.S. states and more than
165 countries.
