Zion students qualify for upcoming state track meet

[May 07, 2013]  Twelve members of the Zion Lutheran track and field team have qualified to participate in the Lutheran Sports Association state track meet coming up this weekend in the Chicago area. The state meet will begin at Elmwood Park High School on Saturday, and Concordia University-Chicago will host Sunday's events.

The following Zion Lutheran students have qualified for the state meet: Anna Sielaff in shot put and discus; Hailie Williams, Brooklyn Hermes, Danielle Burgrabe and Heather Heidbreder in the 4x200 and 4x100 relays; Joel Robison in discus and shot put; Braydon Simpson in long jump, high jump and 100-meter run; Simpson, Robison, Quentin Merreighn and Zack Prather in the 4x100 relay; Zack Prather in discus and the 400-meter run; Lauren Canady in the 100-meter run and long jump; Lane Prather in triple jump and long jump; Julianne Funk in high jump, 100-meter run and 200-meter run; and Hailie Williams in long jump and 100-meter run.

The Zion Lutheran Eagles are coached by Autum Robison, Kelly Engleking, Jan Sielaff and John Beccue.

"Our athletes have worked hard to reach the goal of participating in the state track meet. We look forward to a fun weekend and we hope to be very competitive," Beccue commented.
