People who love people and cherish each life, particularly the unborn, came together on Saturday in Lincoln. "Faith. Hope. Love. Life saved." was the theme of this year's Walk for Life fundraiser hosted by Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center.

The event at Lincoln Christian Church offered balloon animals, face painting, a silent auction, lots of sweet things to eat, music and song by Bill Dolan, and more.

Walkers took advantage of a brief time of sunshine at 10 a.m. to do their laps outdoors.

For 26 years, Living Alternatives has been serving women facing unplanned pregnancies. The agency offers nonjudgmental counseling, ministers hope and healing to those who have had abortions, and provides assistance to women who would like to keep a baby or birth a child for adoption. There is even a residential program in another community.

The organization has limited staffing and welcomes volunteers to work in various capacities from stocking goods to office assistance.

The Lincoln office is currently seeking to hire an administrative assistant and program director.

You can call the office or see their website for more information.

Lincoln has one of the older chapters of the agency with 13 other locations in the area: Bloomington/Normal, Champaign, Frankfort, Grundy/South Will County, Jacksonville, Kankakee, Litchfield, Shelbyville, Springfield, Stark County in Toulon, Tazewell County opening in 2013, Will County; and Merci's Refuge, a residential program in Kokomo, Ind.

A nondenominational, faith-based organization, Living Alternative is a not-for-profit that relies on private donations and fundraisers. Donations are tax-deductible.
