ZLS does well at state track meet

[May 15, 2013]  Ten members of the track and field team from Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln participated in the Lutheran Sports Association's state track meet last weekend in the Chicago area. Competition in the state meet was at Elmwood Park High School on Saturday and at Concordia University Chicago on Sunday.

The ZLS boys' team finished seventh overall.

Individually, Braydon Simpson was the state champion in the long jump and state runner-up in the high jump, both among 18 entries. Zack Prather took second in the discus throw among 37 entries. Anna Sielaff was fifth in the discus throw among 29 entries, and Lauren Canady won seventh place in the 100-meter dash among 39 entries.

The following Zion Lutheran students participated in the state meet:

  • Anna Sielaff -- shot put and discus

  • Hailie Williams, Brooklyn Hermes, Danielle Burgrabe and Heather Heidbreder -- 4x200 and 4x100 relays

  • Joel Robison -- discus and shot put

  • Braydon Simpson -- long jump, high jump and 100-meter run

  • Zack Prather -- discus and 400-meter run

  • Lauren Canady -- 100-meter run and long jump

  • Lane Prather -- triple jump and long jump

  • Hailie Williams -- long jump and 100-meter run
