Lincoln College's Katie Frye competes at Women's National Golf Championship

[May 20, 2013]  MESA, Ariz. -- Lincoln College's Katie Frye participated in the NJCAA Women's National Golf Championship last week in Mesa, Ariz. It was the second time that Frye, a sophomore from Bluffs, had qualified for the national tournament.

After the first round of play, Frye finished the day in 12th place as an individual and 57th place overall. She shot a 90 to open play in the four-day event.

In the second round she shot a 91 in hot conditions at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa. She ended the day in 15th place individually.

In the end, Frye finished 17th in the individual competition. She had a four-day total of 366 (90-91-92-93).

A Lincoln College report commented: "Katie's ball striking was phenomenal during all four rounds of the tournament. Her scores are deceiving as she played a terrific four rounds of golf in the heat of the day. Katie was a great representative of Lincoln College on the course throughout the tournament."

Frye has committed to continue her playing career at MacMurray College.

Daytona State College claimed its sixth team title at the tournament, shooting a four-day total of 1,211.
