Mount Pulaski High School graduation

[May 20, 2013]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Mount Pulaski High School commencement was on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

The ceremony began with the posting of colors by Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447. The processional, "Pomp and Circumstance," was played by the high school band, under the direction of David Helm. Jessica Awe led the Pledge of Allegiance, and opening remarks were given by Sylvia Klumpp. Alexa Meister, senior class president, addressed the group, and Principal Terry Morgan made remarks.

Rachel Allen and Trenton Trump were named co-valedictorians, and both spoke to the group. Students who had achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average were awarded honor pins.

The senior class slideshow, prepared by Alexa Meister, was presented.

Diplomas were awarded to 47 graduates by school board members Doug Martin and Mike Toohey as the principal congratulated the graduates.

Closing remarks were given by Elyse McCormick, and the Mount Pulaski American Legion retired the colors. The recessional, played by the high school band, completed the ceremony.
