Illinois grain prices in country elevators

[May 21, 2013]  SPRINGFIELD -- This is Monday's report of the grain prices and trends, prepared by the USDA and the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Illinois country grain prices were mixed on Monday afternoon, with wheat and soybeans higher and corn lower.

The Weekly Crop Progress report by the National Ag Statistics Service indicated that both US and Illinois farmers made great progress with corn planting last week.

In the report, 71% of the US corn crop was planted, compared to the five year average of 79%.

Illinois farmers had completed 74% of their corn planting, compared to just 17% last week and 77% for the 5 year average.

In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids were 2 to 3 cents lower at 6.76-6.98.

Soybean bids were mixed at 15.10-15.27.

In Central Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids were 2 to 3 cents lower at 6.78-6.88.

Soybean bids were 10 cents higher at 15.42-15.59.

In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were 3 to 5 cents lower at 6.57-6.95.

Soybean bids were mixed at 15.26-15.65. Wheat bids were steady to 3 cents higher at 6.66-6.86.
