[May 22, 2013]  MIDDLETOWN -- New Holland-Middletown Elementary District 88 received a check for $30,000 from the newly formed community group NH-M Community Supports Education at the regularly scheduled school board meeting on May 15. The group, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), was formed with the goal of mobilizing the NH-M learning community behind a single goal: the updating of technology within the school.

The community group has been raising money through a variety of fundraisers throughout the year, including a Christmas Breakfast with Santa in New Holland and a very well-attended 5K in Middletown. To date, the group has raised over $50,000 and has been instrumental in sending a team of teachers to Leyden High School District 212 over the summer to attend a symposium on using Google Chromebooks in the classroom.

In this picture, the board of education and Superintendent Todd Dugan graciously accept an initial check for $30,000, which will be immediately deployed in ordering Apple iPads for the primary students and Google Chromebook laptops for middle grades.
