MASON CITY -- To say the Mount Pulaski Lady
Toppers had to work very hard to earn coach Donna Dulle her 1,000th
win would almost be an understatement. The Lady Toppers faced off
against longtime volleyball rivals the Hartsburg-Emden Lady Stags
Thursday night in the regional championship at Mason City.

The crowd witnessed some fantastic volleyball play that saw each team
gain and lose momentum and end up neck and neck until the very end.
Finally the Lady Toppers won 27-25 and 28-26. It was a moment for
Mount Pulaski fans to remember as coach Dulle witnessed her team
playing their hearts out to earn that 1,000th win for her. A
celebration of fans gathered on the floor as the regional plaque was
handed to the girls and the crowd also recognized coach Dulle for
this achievement.
Hats off to a classy Hartsburg-Emden team who came to play and
challenged the Lady Toppers for every point. Incidentally, Hartem’s
coach Jennifer Hayes recently reached her 500th career win for the
Lady Stags.
The folks in the gym Thursday night certainly enjoyed some of the
best volleyball coached by two of the best the sport has to offer.
