[November 12, 2013]  NEW YORK (AP) -- The members of the Iranian band the Yellow Dogs came to the U.S. to pursue their passion for music.

But they gained notoriety when two members were shot and killed along with another musician early Monday. Police say the gunman was a fellow musician who'd recently been kicked out of another Iranian band.

The Yellow Dogs came to the U.S. after they appeared in an award-winning film about the underground music scene in Tehran. Their manager says they couldn't play the kind of music they wanted to play in Iran so they came to America.

Police say an artist also was wounded in the attack. Police say the shooter killed himself on the roof of a Brooklyn building. They say he had recently argued with his former band over money.
