[November 15, 2013]  BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) — Ball Corp. says it will stop production at its aerosol packaging plant in Danville, Ill., next year.

The company said Thursday the plant's 47 workers would get severance pay and other services and could apply for other positions in the company.

Production at the plant will cease in the second half of 2014.

Ball, based in Broomfield, Colo., says it will record an after-tax charge of approximately $7 million, most of it in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The Danville plant makes three-pieced welded aerosol cans and ends for household products.

Ball says it will continue to supply existing customers and the assets of the Danville plant will be distributed to other company sites.
