Illinois students to march in select parade band

[November 15, 2013]  CHICAGO (AP) — Nine Illinois student musicians have been selected to be part of the Great American Marching Band, marching in this year's annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

Their assistant director is also from Illinois: Barry Houser from the University of Illinois.

The parade band is comprised of 185 student musicians from 50 states.

The Illinois students are: Omar Aranda from Kennedy High School, Devin Cano from Grant Community High School, John Gagnon from Cerro Gordo High School, Eileen Lennon from Alonzo Stagg High School, Elizabeth O'Brien from Centennial High School, Mike Roberts from Carl Sandburg High School, Ryan Spiniolas from Crystal Lake South High School, Roy Stewart II from Flora High School and Taylor Stuenkel from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School.
