CEL Panthers take 2 from Springfield Calvary

[November 21, 2013]  The Chester-East Lincoln seventh-grade team put out a great defensive effort in defeating Springfield Calvary 41-11 on Tuesday night. The Panthers gave up zero points in the second and fourth quarters while collecting 27 steals. The Panthers also controlled the boards, grabbing 30 rebounds in a team effort.

Nick Krumrey led CEL with 14 points, seven rebounds, three steals and one assist. Jace Macintosh had eight points, a team-high seven steals, four rebounds and one assist. Nate Arnold had five points, six steals and three rebounds; Will Ewald had five points, two steals, one assist and one rebound; Dean Harris had four points, five steals, two rebounds and one assist; and Tanner Stramp had four points and two rebounds. Thomas Morris added one point, five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Kenneth Shew knocked down one free throw and had two rebounds and two steals to round out the scoring for the Panthers. Xavier Miller had five rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot.

The eighth-grade team won by a score of 57-42, with all five starters scoring in double figures, improving their record to 6-0. Isaiah Bowers led the way with 16 points, nine rebounds and six steals. Josh Vinson had 11 points and four boards; Sam Birnbaum had 10 points and seven boards; Jordan Jacobs had 10 points and five rebounds; and Will Ewald had 10 points. 

The next game is at CEL on Thursday versus Springfield Christ the King, starting at 6 p.m.
