Prison Sentence for Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

On November 14, 2013, Roger D. Shaub was sentenced pursuant to a fully negotiated plea agreement to 4 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Roger D. Shaub was charged with the offense of Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Roger D. Shaub is required to register his current address based upon a 2002 conviction for Indecent Solicitation of a Child. On September 24, 2013, Sgt. Sherren conducted a compliance check on Roger Shaub's registered address and discovered that Roger Shaub was no longer at the reported address.

"Our office pursued a prison sentence based not only upon the failure to report Mr. Shaub's new address but also based upon where he was living at the time of his arrest," stated Jonathan Wright. According to Wright, when Sgt. Sherren discovered that Mr. Shaub was not living at his registered address, Sgt. Sherren pursued the investigation further to determine where Mr. Shaub was actually living. The additional investigation revealed that Roger D. Shaub was living near an elementary school.
