[October 01, 2013]  NEW YORK (AP) --  Tenor Roberto Alagna and soprano Aleksandra Kurzak have something to sing about: They're having a baby.

The Metropolitan Opera announced Monday that Kurzak has withdrawn from a revival of Verdi's "Rigoletto" because of her pregnancy.

The Met says Kurzak will be replaced by Irina Lungu in the first three performances of the run that opens Nov. 1 and by Sonya Yoncheva in the final five.

Alagna married soprano Angela Gheorghiu in 1996 on stage at the Metropolitan Opera with then-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani presiding. Gheorghiu said in 2009 they had been separated for two years and were divorcing. They later reconciled, but Gheorghiu said in January they were divorcing.
