Tuesday morning 43 students from Northwest School were invited to the Lincoln Fire Department station for breakfast. The breakfast was a part of the department's monthlong emphasis on fire safety and prevention.

The fire department invites a different group of third-grade students each year. In addition, firefighters will visit each of the schools in Lincoln during October, offering class time instruction to children in kindergarten through third grade.

Principal Chris Allen leads the group off the school bus and into the firehouse.

Kids are told to find a chair and sit down.

The firefighters pour juice and milk.

Claude VanFossan cooks up big batches of pancakes.

Assistant Chief Darrin Coffey serves up sausage.

Topping off with a little syrup.

And it is a "thumbs-up" breakfast at the firehouse.
