Illini Central September Student of the Month is Mariah Behrends

[October 11, 2013]  MASON CITY -- The 1st State Bank of Mason City and Illini Central High School have presented Mariah Behrends with the September Student of the Month Award.

For demonstrating outstanding character, she receives a Barnes & Noble gift card from 1st State Bank and an iTunes gift card from Illini Central High School faculty.

Mariah is the daughter of Brent and Rosemary Behrends.

Mariah's classes this year are Calculus, Spanish IV, Physics, Dual Credit Biology and Dual Credit English.

In addition, she keeps busy with a number of extracurricular activities. She is president of student council, senior class, Spanish Club, and Future Career and Community Leaders of America. In addition, she is a member of National Honor Society, FFA, Science Club and National Society of High School Scholars. In sports, she participates in cheerleading and volleyball.

Outside of school, she is a part of the Illinois Junior Hereford Association, a member of San Jose United Methodist Church and president of Peaceful Valley 4-H Club.

Behrends plans to attend a four-year university.
