[October 17, 2013]  NORMAL -- With a little over three weeks until the Illinois State men's and women's basketball teams tip off their respective 2013-14 seasons, Redbird fans had their first chance to see each squad in action at Tuesday night's Hoopfest on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.

The 2013-14 Hoopfest event consisted of team introductions, a 3-point shooting challenge with three pairs of men's and women's student-athletes, a 10-minute women's basketball scrimmage, a men's basketball dunk showcase and a 10-minute men's basketball scrimmage.

The duo of Zach Lofton and Lindsay Smith won the 3-point shooting competition, combining for nine treys. Meanwhile, Daishon Knight and Alison Seberger were close behind with eight 3s, and Nick Zeisloft and Katy Winge rounded out the competition with six 3-pointers.

In the women's scrimmage, Alexis Foley led the Red team to a 13-11 win with five points on 2-for-4 shooting and three rebounds. Meanwhile, Stekara Hall shot 2 for 5 for four points and two rebounds to lead the White team.

Following the dunk showcase, in which every member of the men's basketball team showed off their dunking skills, including head coach Dan Muller, the White team prevailed in a 32-23 scrimmage victory over the Red squad. Paris Lee led all scorers for the White team with eight points on 3-for-4 shooting, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc. Lee also collected a scrimmage-best five rebounds. Lofton added seven for the White team, while Bobby Hunter and John Jones each chipped in six points for the Red team.

With Hoopfest complete, fans will get their next chance to see both the men's and women's basketball teams in action during a Nov. 3 exhibition doubleheader on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena, with the women facing Northwest Missouri State at 1:05 p.m., followed by the men's exhibition matchup against Quincy at 4:35 p.m.

Single-game tickets for both teams officially went on sale Wednesday at 9 a.m. For tickets, visit or call the ticket office at Redbird Arena, 309-438-8000, or click here (GoRedbirds.com).
