[October 19, 2013]  PETERSBURG -- Girls, how about doing something super fun and positive on Halloween this year and celebrate what it means to be a girl?

Join Mighty Strong Girls for a special "Be Yourself Harvest Party" and fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at The Farm, in rural Petersburg.

Come in costume or come as you are and have fun dressing up, "letting your inner self shine." There will be temporary hair dye, makeup artists and a photo booth with lots of hats, wigs and other accessories available.

The celebration also includes a bonfire with hot dogs, s'mores and special activities designed just for preteen and teen girls. A conversation ball pit will be on-site, too

The cost is just $6, but those attending may want to bring some extra cash. A craft will be available for $2 more, and Mighty Strong Girls magazines will be for sale for $7 each.

"This alternative event on Halloween night is a chance for girls to have fun with one another and celebrate their uniqueness," said Jan Koch, vice president of the Mighty Strong Girls board of directors. "When they leave, they will have great memories of a fun night and a better appreciation of their own beauty."

An announcement of the event said: "Make plans now to do something wholesome and fun on Halloween night. Bring a group, bring a friend and come to celebrate and be empowered."
