Jil Sander steps down -- again

[October 25, 2013]  MILAN (AP) -- Jil Sander is once again stepping down as designer for the fashion house she founded in 1968, citing personal reasons.

The Jil Sander Group said in a statement Thursday that fall/winter collections to be presented in January and March will be created by "internal design teams, formed and trained during Jil Sander's tenure."

The announcement suggests that no creative director will be named -- at least not immediately.

Sander, 69, returned in 2012 after Belgian Raf Simons departed for Dior. She had previously left after the Prada Group took over the fashion house in 1999, but returned briefly in 2003.

Jil Sander's minimalist look took off in the 1990s, with the man-tailored pant suit forming a centerpiece of her collections.
