LC coach Mark Tippett commented: "Our team played some excellent
volleyball (Saturday). We cut down on our number of unforced errors
and played aggressively all day long. I was especially impressed by
how we kept a positive attitude when things were not going our way.
In nearly every set we had to erase deficits, and some of them came
after our opponents had 20 or more points. We had two big comebacks
against Sauk Valley during which we made fantastic plays to come
through in high-pressure situations.

"The wins (Saturday) were extra satisfying because they came
against teams we had lost to the first time we played them. We
dropped a heartbreaking five-set match to KCC about a month ago,
in which we let a late lead slip away from us, and we had not
seen Sauk Valley since August. The improvement shown by our
players since then has been significant."
Prior to the second match of the event, Lincoln took time to
recognize the sophomore members of their team: Latasha Fizer, Alli
Haffner, Alyssa Morales, Jordan Michaels, Morgan Lesher, Kristin
Davis and Taylor Hewitt. Coach Tippett announced during the ceremony
that all-conference honors had been awarded to three of those
players: Lesher, first team; Fizer, second team; and Hewitt,
honorable mention.
"I am very proud to have coached the sophomore class," Tippett
said. "They have done an outstanding job on the court and in the
classroom. In addition, they have gotten along with each other as
well as any group of players I have coached, which has made working
with them a lot of fun."
Lincoln plays their final home match of the regular season on
Tuesday evening at 6 versus Illinois Valley Community College.
