Gov. Quinn announces $12.5M for construction projects in Logan County

Projects will improve state's infrastructure and create construction jobs

[September 09, 2013]  Last week Gov. Pat Quinn announced capital investments of more than $12.5 million for road construction projects in Logan County. The projects are part of Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"These construction projects will improve two key transportation routes in Logan County," Quinn said. "They will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well."

The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the projects.

A bridge carrying Business Loop 55 over Salt Creek in Lincoln will be replaced for $12,021,757 by Halverson Construction Co., of Springfield, the lowest of four bidders.

Illinois Route 121 from 2200th to 2300th Avenue in Latham will be patched and resurfaced for $515,561 by Illinois Valley Paving, a division of United Contractors Midwest, of Springfield.

These projects are part of Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. It is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history and one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
