City police seize 18 pounds of cannabis Monday afternoon

[September 11, 2013]  The Lincoln Police Department seized over 18 pounds of cannabis Monday after receiving information of drug activity at a Lincoln hotel.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a Lincoln police officer stopped a truck for traffic violations as it traveled in the 700 block of Woodlawn Road. The truck had Texas registration. A strong odor of cannabis was emanating from the vehicle, and a subsequent K-9 indication led to the search and seizure of approximately 9 pounds of cannabis from the suspect vehicle.

The investigation continued, which led to the seizure of another 9 pounds of suspected cannabis at a Lincoln hotel where the individuals had been staying.

Arrested were:

  • Jose Reyes, 36, of Auburndale, Fla.

  • Roel Lopez, 32, of Garciasville, Texas.

  • A 15-year-old male, of Lincoln.

All were arrested on charges of: manufacture or delivery of cannabis more than 5,000 grams, a Class X felony.

"Teamwork paid off for our Drug Task Force officer, patrol officers and Criminal Investigation Division in successfully removing these illegal drugs from the streets, that would have been distributed in our community," said Deputy Chief Michael Geriets.
