[September 20, 2013]  Logan County residents interested in getting a new pet might want to take advantage of a discount on pet adoptions offered by Logan County Animal Control through Nov. 30.

Dog or puppy adoptions are now $50, reduced from $120. Cat or kitten adoptions have been discounted to $35 from $85.

The adoption fee includes spay or neutering, heartworm test for dogs, FIV test for cats, parvo/distemper and rabies vaccine, and microchip.

The offer is good for anyone with an approved adoption application.

Animal viewing hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10:30-4:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon.

The Logan County Board approved the discount to ease overcrowding and maintain a level of live adoptions to be as close to a no-kill shelter as possible.

"We would like to see these animals go to good homes," noted Kevin Bateman, chairman of the county Animal Control Committee.
