[September 26, 2013]  Lincoln College's Iota Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society will host a quarter auction fundraiser Friday evening in the Davidson-Sheffer Gymnasium on the Lincoln campus. This is a first-time event for the chapter.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the auction starts at 6:30 p.m., emceed by veteran quarter auctioneer, Michelle Bauer, Lincoln College's director of transition services.

Auction paddles are just $1, and most auctioned items will require only a single quarter bid. Over 20 vendors have donated items such as gift certificates, jewelry, clothing and home décor, and several vendors will also have cash-and-carry tables where attendees may purchase additional items. Chapter members will also sell water and popcorn at the event.

Auction items include gift certificates to area businesses, including a free night's stay at Holiday Inn of Lincoln and free tax preparation from Liberty Tax in Lincoln; small household appliances; delicious baked goods; a Chicago Bears helmet signed by Michael Singletary; and a few surprise items in store for attendees.

Participating vendors are Scentsy, Tupperware, Thirty-One, Mary Kay, Paparazzi, Tastefully Simple, Miche, Corner Café & Bakery, Beauticontrol, Pink Zebra, Origami Owl, Lemongrass Spa, Norwex, Country Gourmet Home, The Cloth Penguin, Judi's Jewlz, Velata, Cakes & More by Missy, A'Jamais & Violet Victoria, Antiques, It Works! and Mialisa Jewelry.

Brittany Meador, a sophomore from Lincoln and president of Iota Chi, noted: "Our chapter is extremely excited for our first-ever quarter auction. We are overwhelmed by the amazing generosity of our vendors and community businesses who have donated items to be auctioned."

The chapter is raising funds to help send students to the Phi Theta Kappa Illinois Regional Leadership Conference/Honors Institute in Peoria in mid-October. Remaining funds will be donated to Creekside, Lincoln College's Outdoor Center for Environmental Education. Last year, Iota Chi raised $1,000 for the purchase of a recycling center to be installed at Creekside.
