[March 28, 2014]  STANFORD — Senior Matthew Langdon was awarded the honor of selection to the all-sectional cast by all five judges for his performance in the Lincoln Community High School group interpretation entry of "Sleepwalk with Me," by Mike Birbiglia. Langdon led the group interp team to a fourth-place finish. The team missed advancing to state competition by one point but had their best performance to date.

The script was adapted from Birbiglia's one-man show by LCHS alum and screenwriter Todd Schumacher. It was directed by Jennifer Keith, Wyatt Phillis and Betsy Buttell and featured freshmen Claire Conrady, Abby Funk and Shelbi Fisher; sophomores Bekah Harpin, Lena Stapleton and Zac McCray; and seniors Joella Vermeire, Justin Broom, Konnor Browne, Brad Miller and Langdon.

Sophomore Braden Tanner and senior Matthew Langdon were selected to the all-sectional casts for their performances in the contest play "The Shape of Things" and the group interpretation "Sleepwalk With Me," respectively, at the Olympia Sectional on Saturday.

Sophomore Braden Tanner was selected to the all-sectional cast for his performance as Adam in Neil LaBute's "The Shape of Things." Other cast members were senior Madison Bishop and sophomores Lena Stapleton and Zac McCray. The 40-minute cutting was directed by Buttell and Phillis and placed fifth at Olympia.

This competition marks the end of the competitive speech season, which begins in October and continues through the last weekend in March annually for the IHSA.

"Our kids were outstanding, They did exactly what they were asked to do by their coaches, and sometimes the judges are looking for something else," said Keith, head coach of the LCHS team.

"We are incredibly proud of their efforts and are so glad we have so much talent in so many areas at LCHS," continued Keith. "It's a great time to be a Railer."
