[March 31, 2014]  SPRINGFIELD — The interior of the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site will reopen April 1 after several months of repairs.

Visitors were able to take in the exterior of the 117-foot-tall tomb throughout the repair process, but the interior — where Lincoln rests along with his wife and three of his four sons — was closed for months.

Workers fixed small cracks, repaired water damage to ceilings, repainted sections that had faded and updated the lighting.

As of April 1, the historic site will be open seven days a week, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

There is no charge for admission.
